Why choose a heating plate?
A heating plate is an excellent substitute for Mother Nature, where the hen keeps the chicks warm under her feathers. It is a very natural solution with a big advantage: the chicks will harden earlier and also the growth of their feathers will be quicker. Hereby the chicks will be healthier. The lifetime of a heating plate is approximately 10 years, and the chance of malfunctions is minimal.
The heating plate is made of plastic, mostly of ABS plastic. This material is durable and long lasting. The height of the legs can be easily adjusted by pushing the yellow clips. In the inner side of the heating plate, you will find the polyurethane insulation with a very high insulating factor. On this part the heating is mounted. Very low energy costs, a heating plate uses less energy than a heating lamp. These savings can reach up to 90% less than conventional heat lamps depending on the model. This way you can gain back the purchase price of the heating plate with several weeks, thus, a very good investment!
Also available are re-usable covers.
Heating plates can get very dirty from chicks jumping on top of them. The shape of the cover ensures that the chicks, when they try to jump on top of the heating plate, slip back down again. The cover is very easy to be placed and removed. Made of transparent plastic (PET) and VERY solid. After each use you can clean the cover by rinsing it with warm water to remove the dirt and dust.
