I have bought 2 lots of the rubber eggs and put in my chook houses. Now I am getting more and more hens laying in the sheds instead of around the paddock. Will probably buy one more lot for what I need.
Chooks are now laying - stoked!
Again, my chooks use them as confidence to lay in a suitable place. The vermin also like them. They get chewed or carted off. Is there any way of repelling vermin without harming chooks?
Trying to encourage the chooks to lay in one spot… rather than where they want to in the most inconvenient places. Only been used for a few days and hasn’t completely changed their laying habits.

Feel and look like real eggs, especially after the chickens have bee. K. The nest boxes. Definitely mark the rubber eggs otherwise you'll end up collecting them as a freshly laid egg.
These are pretty realistic (I accidentally collected one with the other eggs last night and didn't realise til I brought them inside!). They've also helped my girls lay in the right place - they free range in long grass and were making nests everywhere that were really hard to find. They're now laying in the nesting box (I shut them in for a few mornings in a row to start with as well).

Very much like real eggs, the only downside is on our slightly sloping nesting box floor they roll down just like the real ones do but we are trialing different ways to get them stay put.
We currently have two broody hens, who it has to be said are not the best of potential mothers. We took their eggs away and put them in an incubator while giving them plastic eggs to sit on. these did not go down well and kept getting papped out of the nesting boxes. However, the rubber eggs have been kept and are still being sat on. In the interested of keeping my fingers intact, I'm sorry, but I'm not taking any photos.
All my nest boxes have these eggs, chooks think there is one already laid so go in to, , especially the new chooks. I've even mistaken them.for real eggs
