Place around flower beds, vegetable gardens, ornamental fruit trees, or potted plant to keep moisture in the soil during summer. Use in winter to prevent the ground from chilling, which protects the roots of trees and perennials. I have 5 pet parrots and have been looking for a safe, non toxic, low dust bedding for the bottom of their cages. Parrots are nautral foragers and should have as much opportunity to forage for their food as possible, ground forgaing included. I have used the hemp bedding for 2 weeks now in the bottom of the cages for my parrots and I am very impressed. There was a very large amount of bedding, it seemed to make more 130 - 140 litre instead of 170, but I am happy with the amount still. I put a thick layer into the clean trays at the bottom of their cages and spot clean it every morning. Scooping out any big droppings or discarded food. The hemp bedding kind of sticks to their poo and this makes it super easy to scoop out in a little clump. Once a week I fully take all the old bedding out, clean off the tray and refill with fresh bedding. My conures and budgies have loved foraging through the bedding for discard seeds, nuts and dry mix. They spend a lot more time at the bottom of their cage now, getting more enrichment and exercise. Luckily I have noticed any significant amount of dust come from the bedding. The hemp has a distinct and natural but not unpleasant scent.
Actually I haven’t started using it yet,I bought it for 2 mice I am hoping to get, but am getting the tank set up first. I hope it will be suitable for them. That’s what was suggested by someone on Google. Was thrilled the way it expanded !
Thank you very much, I will contact you when I’ve finished setting up the tank . I still need to buy a lid with mesh for air in the lid, which I also haven’t bought yet. It’s a step busy step process. Thank you,
